Solar Thermal Water systems are very efficient nowadays and can be tailored to your requirements to produce a cost-effective solution that significantly reduces the amount of gas, oil and electricity required to heat water in your home. There are two main types of systems in the market: "Flat Panel Solar Water Heating system " and "Evacuated tube systems". Evacuated tube systems are more advanced in design than flat plate, and so tend to be more expensive.

Solar Water Heating Systems
Solar thermal systems take energy from the sun and convert it to useful heat to provide hot water. Solar thermal systems basically consist of three main components:
Can I use a solar system with a combi
boiler?
The simple answer is yes,
however you will need a qualified plumber. You can incorporate
a standard solar system, which means you will need to install
a single coiled UNVENTED cylinder (or tank) to store your hot
water in. The hot water, when called upon, comes directly from
your hot water tank to your tap. However, if the hot water is
not at a sufficient temperature, it is diverted by a
thermostatic valve up to your combi boiler to be taken up to
full temperature. You will need to check that your combi
boiler will take PRE HEATED water. If not it may be possible
to install a mixer valve to still allow you to install a solar
system without changing your boiler.

Features:
a). Rust-free and scale resistance: the special silicide coated on the Blue-Gold (porcelain enamel coating) steel inner vessel can separate water from steel plate, so it is featured with rust-free, high strength, and resistance to corrosion by chlorine ion.
b). New technology and new material: a special crystal is coated on the inner vessel by the newest German process technics. After baked at 900℃, it is melted and integrated with the steel wall of inner vessel, thus the Blue-Gold (porcelain enamel coating) steel inner vessel with extra protective function is made.

Flat Panel Solar Water Heating
Flat panel water heating systems uses solar energy for heating hot water in the same way that solar collector modules are used. They are chosen over evacuated tubes depending on the customer's requirements, or specifications.
A Flat-plate collector is typically made from a metal box which has a glass or plastic cover on top. The cover is known as the glaze, and there is an absorber plate on the bottom. The sides and bottom of the collector are usually insulated to minimize heat loss.
Sunlight passes through the glazing and strikes the absorber plate, which heats up, changing solar energy into heat energy. Liquid which passes through the pipes is heated and these pipes are attached to the absorber plate. Absorber plates are usually painted with special coatings which absorb and retain heat better than standard black paint. Absorber plates are usually made of copper or aluminium pipes as these are good heat conductors. Copper is more expensive, but is a better conductor and less prone to corrosion than Aluminium.
